Respiratory System

Function:  supply oxygen to the body. This allows the body to function. The Respiratory system works by breathing in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide out of the body. The respiratory systems bring oxygen to the blood.

Inhaling oxygen is called inspiration. And exhaling is called expiration.

Oxygen is inhaled through the mouth and nose.  The breath then passes through the Larynx and the Trachea, which is the main tube that enters the chest cavity. The Trachea splits in too many tubes called Bronchioles. This connects to the tine air sacs called alveoli is very thin and it’s her that the oxygen exchange takes place. Blood passes through the thin walls blood the alveoli and in to the blood stream.
